The story of a simple Russian boy who's gone to the frontline of the First World War with a naive youthful dream of glory and medals. He's lost his sight in the very first battle and was left to serve as a listener - he had to listen to the approach of enemy airplanes through huge metal funnels and raise the alarm.
The film features music by Sergei Rachmaninoff. In 1909 the composer created “The Third Concerto for piano and orchestra”. Its power and energy were unheard of at the time and seemed like something incredible. It is as incredible as the idea that in just five years civilized European Nations will come together in a bloody World War. It was the premonition of the genius composer about the fate of the nation, who will face hard trials. But a few decades later Rachmaninoff created a work even more grandiose in its power, after which he hasn't wrote anything...

Alexander Zolotukhin was born on September 7, 1988 in Ukraine.
